Place de l'Etoile
"Etoile Rouge" The Red Star is the one of tallest monument in Benin. It is located on one of Cotonou's inevitable crossroads. The monument is represented by a person everyone calls Jacob who has a gun in his shoulder, a bundle of wood in his left hand, and a wheel in the right one. He is the symbol of resistance and of socialist doctrine. Well planted and planted with trees, "Place de l'Etoile Rouge" is a place for relaxation and ideal for taking a breath of fresh air in the shade.
