The sacred forest of Kikélé and its monkeys


Kikélé is a small village located 7 kilometers from Bassila. In Kikélé, you have the possibility to visit the forest sacred over an area of approximately 12 hectares. Several tours in the form of activities that have for objective, the protection of nature will allow you to better explore this pine forest. The sacred forest of Kikélé is home to several animals, the most emblematic of which is Geoffroy's Colobus (Colobus vellerosus), a monkey mainly found in West Africa. It is classified as "vulnerable species" on the list IUCN Red since 2000 (IUCN, 2011).
