The Great Mosque (Porto-Novo)


Still called the central mosque, it is located in the middle of the large Porto-Novo market.  Its construction dates from the beginning of the 20th century and was inspired by Afro-architecture.
Brazilian. More precisely, it is an inspiration from the Baroque architecture of the Cathedral of the Brazilian city Salvador de Bahia.

The Great Mosque is not today more frequented. An annex serving as a place of prayer was built next to it.
