Marine turtles (Grand-Popo)

The coastal area of Grand-Popo is a marine ecosystem favorable to marine turtles. It serves as a buffer zone for the migration of the latter. In Grand-Popo, the turtles move freely on the coast.
Being endangered species and with the aim of preserving them, hatcheries managed by eco-guards are set up by Nature Tropicale with the support of GIZ (Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) and IUCN-Netherlands.

These hatcheries house eggs laid by sea turtles. In their essence, the whole process favorable to their outbreaks unfolds.
For twenty years, Nature Tropicale has worked in collaboration with the fishing communities of Grand-Popo for the protection and preservation of sea turtles.
