Goho Square (Abomey)

Goho Square in Abomey is a symbolic place in which the statue of the King is erected emblematic Béhanzin. Béhanzin (1845-1906) was a hero, one of the African kings of wrestling anti-colonial and more precisely against French imperialism in Dahomey (now Benin).
AT the continuation of the war between the Kingdom of Danxomè and the French colonial army, it is at this place that King Béhanzin surrendered to General Dodds.
The King's fierce opposition Béhanzin in the face of French imperialism is a way for him to preserve the land of his ancestors and its ancestral values.
