The Honmè Museum


The former royal palace of Porto-Novo which was the practice house for the kingship of many kings, including King Toffa 1 er , has housed the Honmè Museum for years. "Honmè" means in local language Goun: "inside the door". It is a public museum that presents the lineage royal city as well as life within the palace. It is erected over a vast expanse of over 2 hectares and is composed of several rooms, each of which is the subject of a theme. AT Inside the museum, you will have the privilege of visiting a collection of around 230 objects from the royal court including photographs, altars of offerings, furniture .... building hosts sacred parts, and rituals always take place to implore the mercy of the spirits of our ancestors. A museum to discover as a starting point for visits in the city with 3 names!
